We have founded this annual scholarship for graduating Volcano Vista students to honor Doug's memory. The Doug Goodfellow Memorial Scholarship is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization; all donations are tax-deductible. You can make a one-time or reoccurring donation through CharitySmith. You will receive a receipt via email for tax purposes.

Each year, a graduating senior from Volcano Vista High School will receive a cash award to assist them in their next educational endeavor.

Doug was not a high performer in high school. While he achieved higher education as an adult, his path was long and winding. In honor of his journey, there is no minimum GPA requirement for the scholarship. Applicants will submit two written essays about their post-graduation educational plans which can include vocational programs, trade schools, community or junior colleges, traditional 4-year universities, or service programs like AmeriCorps and City Year.

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of Doug's immediate family and close friends. A recipient will be selected in April, and cash awards will be presented at the Volcano Vista High School Honor's Assembly in May.

Only students who had Mr. Goodfellow for AP English or Driver's Education may apply the 2023 and 2024 award years. After all students who had Mr. Goodfellow have graduated, all graduating VVHS students may apply. The award amount will vary based on available funds, but will be no less than $2,500.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Doug Goodfellow Memorial Scholarship! If you are an eligible student, we hope you will apply.
